Alexis Bodo
Owner/Trainer, Coronation Farm
Let me start off this letter of recommendation by saying this will be the easiest reference letter I have ever written throughout the course of my professional career. I know and understand as a parent, coach, trainer, etc. you are not supposed to have “favorites”. Well I have a favorite, and her name is Parker Levy.
Parker has been riding with my for approximately two years now. She is the kindest, hardest working, positive and intelligent young lady I have ever had the pleasure of teaching. She shows up early every single day with a smile on her face, never says no to a task asked (no matter how tedious or dirty the job is), has impeccable communication skills and always says “Thank You” to everyone.
A few months ago we sat down and started to talk about college and her future. When I ask her why she wanted to be on a riding team her answer was simple, “I want to be part of a team.” Over the course of the past two years she is always there to support peers, friends or me in the barn or at the show ring. She is very organized and we joke she is my unofficial assistant. I would pay her if I could! I trust her to run my whole business for a day if I needed to be elsewhere. Parker is incredibly mature, trustworthy and reliable. She also has a great sense of humor. I can always count on her to be part of the team. She NEVER complains about anything and will be at the barn as early or late as I ask her to and genuinely enjoys doing the work. Over the summer, I had a very bad fall in Kentucky and broke my collarbone. I had to go to the hospital in an ambulance and out of all of my staff and family I asked if P would go with me for the ride to the hospital. She quietly and calmly held my hand on the way there and helped with admission to the hospital, giving them all of my information and patiently waiting with me for the doctor. I’m 36 years old and felt better with 16-year-old Parker by my side to comfort me. If I looked up teammate in the dictionary I would expect to see a picture of Parker there, smiling.
Her horsemanship skills are unmatched. All of the horses love her and are always looking for her, pawing at the stall doors when she enters the barn. She takes her time around nervous horses, is constantly looking for extra rides, always keeps her cool when something is frustrating and always has a cookie in her pocket. She has ridden young horses, seasoned horses and pretty much anything I put her on. When she first started riding with me she had just come off a pony jumper and purchased a green, tough 4 year old. We worked through training with that horse and found another young one for her to reach her goals in the equitation ring. Her perseverance amazes me and she has had great success in the eq ring with a 6 year old gelding, in a short period if time. As you know, that is not an easy task. You will always find her cleaning tack, grooming/bathing horses, packing the trailer, helping the guys, cheering others on, setting jumps in the schooling ring and even playing with our barn dog. It always makes me feel better when she is there next to my jump for the Grand Prix. She knows how to do every barn task and completes it thoughtfully and thoroughly. Parks always helps without being asked and is often 10 steps ahead of you. She asks constructive questions in lessons and will always try hard and listen to instruction. She still has a lot to learn, but is extremely coachable and fun to teach.
I could go on and on for another three pages, but I will leave it at this. I personally believe with my whole conscious and heart that Parker Levy would be an incredible addition to any equestrian team. She will not let you down and will always give 1000%. She will work as hard as necessary, support her teammates, and always ask if there is anything else that needs to be done. This kid is as good as it gets.
